FASHION MODELS II “IT” GIRLS

Models are no longer just there for the sole purpose of making the clothes look good, now a days models are celebrities in their own right. They are followed around by paparazzi, we raid blogs to see their off-runway style, and we care about their makeup tips and tricks. Every year there are a new batch of “it” girl models that we need to look out for. Cara Delevigne has been the “it” girl for a couple of years now but she definitely did not slow down this year. She continues to dominate ad campaigns and Tumblr post with her style and killer eyebrows. Georgia May Jagger, Mick Jagger’s daughter, has a timeless beauty that makes her look like she came right out of a 1970’s editorial. She also knows how to work that tooth gap. Suki Waterhouse is not only a model but also an actress and singer. You might have also seen her in magazines accompanied by her famous beau Bradley Cooper. Malaika is a Kenyan born model who has been called the next “Naomi Campbell” but is definitely making a name for herself in her own right. With her flawless skin and tall stature she is perfect for runway and made multiple appearances for Prada, Marc Jacobs, and Dolce & Gabbana to name a few. Last but not least is Kendall Jenners, part of one of the most famous families in the world she has really branched out this year by landing high profile ad campaigns and walking multiple runway shows in NY and Paris.

 

 

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY II BEHIND THE LENS

Ever wonder who was behind those beautiful photographs in editorials and ad campaigns? Here we highlight three photographers that we believe are the greatest fashion photographers. A good photograph doesn’t just end with the subject and these photographers are able to capture something not only in the model but also the lighting and the atmosphere to pull out amazing images.

Mario Testino is a fashion photographer of Peruvian decent most famous for his editorials in Vanity Fair and Vogue. Though having worked with many celebrities, super models, and public figures his most notable muse is Kate Moss who he has worked with continually in the past and has recently released a book featuring photographs of the super model called simply “Kate Moss” by Mario Testino. His beautiful photographs have a timeless feel and his use of lights in portraits is unparalleled.

Juergen Teller is a German fine art and fashion photographer. None for his work in Marc Jacobs ads his photographs exude a bit of quirkiness and a lot of color. His subjects though very beautiful always seem to be a bit off beat as he seems to capture a mood within his photographs that can not be replicated.

Richard Avedon is regarded as one of the first great fashion photographers as well as a great portrait photographer. Avedon began his career shooting for Harper’s Bazaar magazine in 1945 eventually going on to work with Vogue, Life as well as other mainstream campaigns. Throughout his life he shot everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Brooke Shields, he was a master at shooting the female form and was able to capture amazing portraits that were less polished and really captured something in the subject.

While the rest of the country is experiencing a nice cold chill with the beginning of the Fall/Holiday season, here at the Yetts offices we are still in the middle of a heat wave. California has a reputation of being 75 and sunny which is wonderful except for when it’s not suppose to be. We love cold weather just as much as the rest of the country as we are currently waiting to bust out our boots and coats. No worries you can still wear some of your favorite fall accessories while staying cool in this heat. Steer away from your usual dark solid colors this fall and try a patterned dress. Whether it’s a tunic, a midi, or a maxi we love the idea of combating the cold with a little color. You can play it safe by wearing neutral colors or  you can go a little wild and try abstract prints. This is definitely a trend to try out during the holiday festivities.

Celebrities like Olivia Palermo, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Cara Delevingne have been spotted wearing the monogrammed Burberry Prorsum scarf sweater. Not only do we love this sweater/poncho/blanket concoction we love the trend that it inspired. Nothing is better than wearing something that is not only comfortable but also fashionable and these seasons poncho’s make you feel like you are walking around in the most fashionable blankets.

Every fall this is a go to trend,mostly because plaid is almost only acceptable during the Fall and Spring. We must take the opportunity to welcome this trend every year and deck ourselves out in easy wearable plaid. Whether you prefer to just have hints of plaid as in a tartan scarf or flannel or an all over print as in a plaid dress or pants this trend spells out fall and we love it.

Now this ever controversial fabric (is it classified as a fabric?) can be worn faux or real if you are into that sort of thing. I prefer to keep it faux but also keep it loud. If that’s not your thing you can go for hints of fur on glove trims or hats. I’m currently enjoying all the puffy fur jackets and vest that we see popping up around this time of year. The greatest thing about fur (faux or not) is that it never goes out of style.

 

 

 

KEEP WARM WITH FUR

 

Sometimes you want to have a bit of plush but not look like a fur ball, for those time a fur vest is your best friend. So soft and cozy you can expect it to really class up any outfit and make you look like a movie heroine from the 40’s. Nowadays we think of fur as being able to play into a few more casual looks which is where the vest comes in. wear it open or tied to look a bit more put together. You can achieve ski bunny status just by adding this to your wardrobe. Now you only have to plan a trip to Aspen and you are set!

TEEN FASHION INSPIRATION: SOFIA RICHIE

 

You might be more familiar with her older sister and famous father but Sofia Richie is making a name for herself. In the world of fashion she has been featured in many prominent fashion magazines and even had her own spread in the ever influential Who What Wear. This 16 year old Cali native might be best friend with the Jenner sisters but she has a style all her own. Yes she is still a teen but her her closet shows that she is part teen part sophisticated socialite. Sofia is rarely seen without a pair of heeled booties, changing the tone her outfits. She is a huge fan of trousers but still loves to show midriff. Definitely the perfect juxtaposition of teenager and fashionista. It is rumored that she is following in the footsteps of her father and releasing some music in the future. I’m sure finishing high school is next on her list but whatever she does I’m sure she will remain cool and collected while doing so.

I would like to think that most of us care about the way we smell right? (I rather not take a vote) During the Summer the smells I can’t get away from are sunscreen and the beach, not bad smells at all but I’m looking forward to being able to sit cozy in my sweater and take in my preferred scent.
